I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole !, 23 Feb 2011

We were not impressed with the quality of the product on unpacking, it seemed very flimsy and not built to last. However, we proceeded to use and were pleased with the quality of coffee produced, but after less than I week the thermal lining of the jug exploded while rinsing the following morning. IMPRESSIVE EH ! Even without this problem, I cannot see this machine reaching the end of it’s guarantee period, let alone 3-4 years.Needless to say the machine has been returned and I never want to see another Morphy Richards product again. Our previous machine was a Bosch, which was fantastic and lasted 4 years, working faultlessly, but the filter hinge broke, so we needed a replacement. What a pity that there is so little choice for this type of product and at a realistic price, sub £100 discounted.DO NOT BUY !!!

We bought this coffee maker prior to the new year. It lasted about 2 weeks before it suddenly stopped working. It lit up when the coffee maker button was pressed but nothing happened. Unlucky it may have been but we were not impressed by it at all prior to this.It has a removable water tank which we thought was odd seeing as you can just fill it up from the top by removing the circular cap.If like us you do decide to at first remove the water holder beware! As if you do not replace it correctly it will just flood your work top with water. A truly stupid design even the insulated jug does not keep the coffee hot for long. Our advice avoid buying altogether, Morphy Richards have better machines out there.

Have you tried to freeze it?Here’s htmeosing I found online that may interest you Originally posted by daniel3777 when an ice berg freezes in salt water, the ice is actually pure water because the freezing water kind of pushes the salt out. so why does the suger in koolaid freeze with the water. i asked my chemistry teacher and he looked for the answer but he doesn’t know why. this may seem like a stupid question but it is really bugging me. Simple the sugar in koolaid does NOT freeze with the water. For your iceberg, you have three phases, solid water, a more concentrated salt solution, and if concentrated enough, solid salt. The solid phases have sufficiently different densities to settle out or float, and the liquid phase is low enough in viscosity that the solids can separate from it. The koolaid? You get solid water in a network of needles in whatever mold you’re using to make popsicles; you get a more and more concentrated sugar syrup that has a viscosity that increases with concentration poured over the ice crystal network, and at low enough temperatures a semi-solid solution of water in sugar, wet sugar plus food coloring. Does it separate into two separate blobs, ice on the top and sugar on the bottom? Eventually, if you cycle your popsicle up and down in temperature without ever exceeding a temperature 2-3 degrees below the freezing point of water go check your mother’s/g-mom’s/friend’s freezer for the two year old package of popsicles and look at the contents stickly, gooey syrup on one side and colorless ice on the other.
HeHe – we don’t have a coffee maker at home. We only have an rspeesso maker and a french press (pauses to stick nose in air). Anyway, I have been on a Starbucks hiatus since October 1. I am only allowed to go on Sunday after my morning walk with a friend. This is day 7 of no Starbucks and I was actually contemplating “work brewed coffee”. Yes, I am a coffee snob. The hubs is considering buying me my own French press for work.congrats on making do and love the hubs for picking you up a filter that you really needed!
I just bhguot one 3 I just bhguot one 3 days ago. Came with a different filter, and it makes a great cup of coffee. Way better than one we had before. The filter makes a huge difference if you have hard water. I like the fact that you can take the filter holder out, clean that bad-bitty up, while cleaning the filter and have a fresh pot every time. It looks like the filter you pulled out of there was used .
It’s just a very different prep, heat, temp and diratuon wise than with a traditional pump driven espresso machine. This machine is very similar to what you have been drinking because it’s steam driven, like your stovetop. I think this is going to be neck and neck with your stovetop, coffee flavor wise, but it’s not a traditional espresso extraction. To change the flavor noticeably, you’d need to get a pump driven machine. For what this is, I think it’s great. Kat
